Safeguarding
This statement and policy have been drawn up from the model safeguarding policy for schools Approved by the Luton Safeguarding Board.
This policy will be reviewed regularly and updated annually. However if statutory guidance changes the policy will be updated and re-published accordingly.
The policy must be updated annually and made available on the school website or by other means.
In drawing up the safeguarding policy the school must ensure that all staff and volunteers are aware of its contents. It would be helpful and useful for a brief Welcome Sheet detailing a summary of the policy and the name of the designated safeguarding lead were given to occasional staff, personnel form organisations commissioned to provide a service to the school and any volunteers.
Links with other policies
This safeguarding policy has obvious links with the wider safeguarding agenda so when agreeing or reviewing the policy , links should be made with other relevant guidelines and procedures such as (but not limited to):
- Safe Recruitment
- Code of Conduct
- On line safety
- Children Missing in Education
- PSHCE

Safeguarding our children
The culture of this school is one that it is safe for children and unsafe for adults who would pose a risk to children.
All staff and visitors will be subject to safer recruitment checks.
The school is a safe, happy and ordered environment for children where adults are always vigilant about their care.
This includes being aware of the types of abuse – neglect, physical, sexual and emotional and sharing any concerns you may have in a timely manner, with the head teacher or assistant head teachers who will assist you in following the school’s procedures. (Supply Teachers please ensure that you have done this before the end of the school day and in any event as soon as possible).
Health and Safety (H&S)
H&S is largely a matter of common sense, sound judgement and collectively taking care of the school and its users.
Please check the area or room you are in for the emergency evacuation procedures signage which has a green border. As a class teacher in the event of an evacuation follow the instructions taking the children and only the register with you.
Report any actual or potential health and safety concerns to a member of staff working with you or to the office.
Supporting Good Behaviour
If difficulties arise seek the assistance of staff working with you or, through them, a senior member of staff.
Code of Conduct
All those engaged in work at the school are undertaking a professional role to support the education of young people and should conduct themselves as such. This includes relationships and communication with pupils and colleagues, appropriate professional dress and safe and legal use of information technology.
Thank you.
A Devereux – Headteacher
