Music
Music Intent Statement
At Waulud Primary School, it is our intent that we make music an enjoyable learning experience. Our aim is to develop an enjoyment and appreciation of music. Children gain a firm understanding of what music is through listening, singing, playing, evaluating, analysing, and composing across a wide variety of musical genres. We inspire pupils to become musicians by providing specialist music teachers to deliver high quality lessons across the school. All pupils are given the opportunity to learn to play a range of musical instruments and perform these to different audiences. It is important for our children to be given the opportunity to experience a range of musical celebrations which include local and national events as we believe that music promotes positivity, self- confidence and a sense of community.
We provide inspirational models by using musicians (past and present) as a basis for developing musical knowledge in order to enhance compositional skills. We aim for our children to learn that music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity.
