Wellbeing Intent

Giving children access to a high quality Wellbeing curriculum helps Waulud Primary school to reduce many of the barriers to learning experienced by our children, significantly improving their capacity to learn and achieve.

We aim to develop children’s wellbeing through the curriculum areas of Relationships, Sex and Health Education, developing children’s ‘Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural’ identities and providing a strong basis for who they are as citizens in contributing towards wider society.  Through our curriculum, our intention is to guide children in their understanding of how they are developing both personally and morally and highlight many of the issues that are part of growing up in the 21st Century.  We provide opportunities for children to learn about their rights and responsibilities and encourage them to develop their own sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to both school life and the wider community.   Through our shared values: Pride, Respect, Include, Determined and Encourage, children are encouraged to develop an understanding of themselves and develop the essential skills for future employability.   Children are provided with balanced and relevant knowledge and opportunities to explore their own and other’s attitudes, beliefs and rights. We provide children with the opportunities to practise how to develop the skills, language and strategies they need in order to live healthy, safe and fulfilling lives.

We aim to encourage children to be highly motivated, have a positive attitude, stay physically and mentally healthy and aspire to be great.  Our intention is that all of our children are ambitious and prepared for the future.
