Physical Education Intent Statement

We believe in inspiring all pupils to participate in and excel at physical activities and develop a healthy lifestyle. We develop the knowledge and skills necessary for mental, social and physical wellbeing, which is key for a successful future for our children.  We aim to use physical education to teach the children to be resilient, hard-working, successful and to develop self-discipline.

Pupils at Waulud Primary participate in high-quality PE and sporting activities.  We incorporate a variety of sports to ensure our children develop in confidence, tolerance and appreciate their own and others strengths and weaknesses. We provide opportunities for all children to engage in extra-curricular activities in addition to competitive sporting events. These opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as teamwork, fairness and respect.

Our annual Wellbeing Week is an opportunity for children to further apply the skills and knowledge they have learnt in a variety of new sports and events. Alongside this, our curriculum is enriched by trained professionals who teach the children new sports and to help them to aspire to be the best they can be.
